An oldie but a goodie!

I've been working hard on my website, which I hope will be live by the end of the week....I know it's about time right!!! Anyways while rummaging through the archives, I came across this picture I took back in May and I'm amazed it sat unedited for all of this time. I adore this picture and wanted to share. I'll make sure to post when my website is finally done for all to see, stay tuned!

I consider my style to be.......

This is a hard one for even me to answer...and you are all so awesome in how you would describe my work! Before I even posted the question one word came to my mind to describe my style. I have been trying to find the perfect word to accompany this one word that I think best describes me but on that I am stuck. So for now I have one word that I think really fits my style and congrats to Jess, Tara, and the Wolf Pack you all mentioned it......FRESH! Don't know why, but when I myself see my finished pictures they seem to feel fresh to me. I want my pictures to feel like a breath of fresh air. Like when you walk outside into the Fall air and it just hits you with that crisp, clean and refreshing feeling! And of course I LOVE color. In fact I tend to have a hard time converting my pictures to black and white because I often feel like they are missing something. I also LOVE backlight, something about the slight glow around the subject that just frames them so nicely and it always just has such a warm feeling too. Oh and I just love genuine smiles too! In fact I love all types of smiles and laughing in pictures. There is something so sweet, innocent and pretty about a slight soft smile, or so genuine about a true giggle or caught in the moment laugh.

Most importantly I want to strike a cord and stir emotions with my clients and viewers. I like to catch the real personalities of the people in my pictures and I like to catch those perfect special moments. I have a quote on my blog that I tend to think of when shooting "There are many pictures that will capture your eye, but few that will really capture your heart. These are the ones to pursue. These are the ones worth keeping" I just love it when I am able to capture a picture that really captures the heart.

I often wonder where my photography journey will take me and it has been so much fun to watch my style develop. Thank you all for following my journey, I really do LOVE what I do.....really!!

What's my style?

OK so I now know that I have so many wonderful faithful bloggers that check me out(thank you, thank you, thank you!!). So I've been wondering if you had to give my style a name what would it be? I've been asked this question many times and it's so hard to put it into words. So I'll ask you all the same question. What's my style? Than I'll let you know what I would consider my style to be. Come on it'll be fun!

I just adore Fall!

Oh it is in the air! My most favorite time of year. Everything about fall I adore. The changing colors, the falling leaves, the crispness in the air, the pumpkins and fall decorations. I love pulling out light jackets and sweaters, and my favorite pair of jeans and putting away shorts and flip flops. I think the last 2 weeks of Sept. and the first 2 weeks of Oct. should last year round. I seriously could live in this one month forever! I can't wait until the mountain becomes painted with reds, yellows, and oranges and I always anticipate the drive up the canyon to take it all in. Oh I really could just go on and on.
Anyways, we went up to Park City this last weekend and just took a day to enjoy all that fall has to offer. What a site it is, it never ceases to amaze me....EVER. We had a blast and of course I had to bring my camera. I could take pictures of fall leaves all of the time. No two leaves are the same I swear! Here are a few pictures of the beauty in our mountains here in Utah. Enjoy!!

I FEAR … driving in bad weather....I HATE it! We're talking like meltdowns.
I HEAR … Jack Johnson's music and it always makes me happy
I DON’T THINK … Seinfeld is funny!
I REGRET … Not trying harder to play volleyball at a collegiate level, and not playing anymore.
I LOVE … my family! Oh and sushi!

I'm back......and I wish I was still on the beach!

Well I guess it's always good to get home too but I sure do love the coast! I grew up in no. Cali always at the beach and it was nice to spend a few days by the water again!
What an amazing climate Santa Barbara has, 50-75 degrees on average year round!!! It was a bit cool in the mornings and perfect in the afternoon......so perfect! We had a blast and of course I took a lot of pics. The concert was so much fun Jack was awesome but I think I liked his first concert better a few years back. Anyways I wanted to share a few pics of the trip and let you all know that I am back and will be getting to my emails soon. And I'll be posting more of the cute family I had before I left, hopefully in the next few days!

The poor unsuspecting birds got to be my models, since my husband was done with pics after a few.

This pelican was a great model, it didn't move just let me snap away!

Our footprints....I wish we had my daughters' right in the middle....next time! Although I'm not sure there will be a next time my husband felt like a total dork doing this with me!
Here like this together

Just a fun shot under the warf
Gentle Waves

We were watching the surfers off the coast. Doesn't my husband just look like a tourtist......ha the funny thing is he dresses like this everyday! It's been a long standing joke our whole marraige that one day he would own his own business and wear hawaiian shirts and flip flops to work. Well, we now own our own business(an ATV and scooter dealership) and he wears hawaain shirts and tennis shoes everyday....close enough! I have a great picture of him looking at the camera, unfortunately he decided to give me the bird, its the funniest picture though!!
Cali coast

We also got to go to the Museum of Art in SB too. I was lucky enough to catch an Exhibit of famous old Hollywood Photographers and famous pictures (lucky me I know!)It was awesome to see the originals of some amazingly famous Hollywood pictures! I snapped up one pic just to give you an example of what I'm talking about.
Museum of ARt

Ok and these next pictures are hilarious! This seriously funny hippie guy had this killer van parked out by the beach and was taking donations if you took pics of it. Of course I gave him a few bucks and snapped away. He was so nice and so funny. Anyways this van was so amazing. It had so many things on it to even begin to take pics of it so I got a few to share. Checkout the detail of the van, it was loaded with toys, legos, beads, dolls, etc.etc.

and the self proclaimed Hippie himself! He was like Hippie Santa...ha ha!
THe hippie himself

and to end it on a much prettier note.....The sunset our first night there....so, so much prettier!
Sunset in Santa Barbar

All in all we had soo much fun and can't wait to go back soon. Of course I wish I had models with me, I found some AMAZING locations, seriously rustic beach houses and buildings, bright colored doors, beautiful flowers etc......oh it was awesome!!

My Therapy

As much as I love taking pictures of people, I equally enjoy taking pictures of things. Simple things, like these beautiful sunflowers. I went out tonight by myself and spent time just shooting this field of sunflowers I found. This is really theraputic for me and I just love taking time to do this. Something about finding the beauty in everyday stuff that really makes me appreciate the bigger picture even more. OK so I'm rambling, it's 2:00 am and I'm kinda tired. Anyways, I tried a lot of different edits with these pics and I love each and everyone. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

And here's the funny part. It was almost time to go and I thought I really need a new picture of me for my blog. So I thought I'd attempt to take my own, old school style. So I held the camera away from me as far as I could and snapped a few. I was crackin' up at the results. Most were out of focus or I had seriously wierd faces going on, but I did manage to get one that I kind of liked a little. So here I am in all of my, little make up, hat head, old school self portrait glory. No laughing.....really no laughing.....

Enchanted Forest

If you are from Utah and you haven't had time to drive the Alpine loop up American Fork Canyon........get in your car and drive! My family took a scenic drive around Alpine loop today and saw the wildflowers that are in bloom covering the forest floor. It's truly amazing. Anyways from what I've heard the flowers are only in bloom for a few weeks, so I'm so happy we got the chance to see them. Alot of the pictures that I took didin't turn out great because of the harsh midday sun but I do love this one. It is almost magical to look at. The floor beneath the trees is covered in green lush ferns. It's so amazing, a total treat for the eyes!

Enchanted Forest

Then we stopped at Sundance to walk around, I saw these cute bikes all parked in a row, had to take a picture....

Colorful ride

OK I promise my next posts will have people in them, I have 3 or 4 sessions this next week.

The smaller things in life

I have this small strip of wildflowers that grows right by my house. I'd been wanting to take some pictures of the flowers there. I spent about 20 minutes and was able to capture everything you see in this picture. I did put the lady bug up on the daisy (it was near by it though) but the grashopper was just sitting there all on it's own, almost asking me to take it's picture. I think this was a lesson to me to take the time to slow down and really enjoy the smaller things in life.

"Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you'll see them all around you.”

My mom found this on the ground while out with my daughter yesterday. She brought it home to me and said "God gave you a nest too". She has the sweetest little nest that she found at her house and I have always loved it so much. She told me once, God gave it to her. Then she said Addy pointed inside and said "babies" in her adorable little voice. I'm not quite sure how she knew that.....so sweet!! I was so happy yesterday to get this small miracle. Isn't it neat to see the the material the bird used to craft her nest. You can see a silver piece of tinsel and the white craft type paper. What a little miracle.
